Prof. Fred Binka, MB ChB, MPH, PhD
Chairman
Professor Binka is the Governing Board Chair of Ubora Institute. He is a WHO consultant who has worked on various projects, served on more than a dozen WHO expert committees and panels; was Chair of the GAVI Independent Review Committee and a Trustee of several international NGO’s working on health especially malaria. He is the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ghana; established by the Government of Ghana in March 2012. He has also served as the Dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Ghana. Prof. Binka further established the internationally acclaimed Navrongo Health Research Centre in Ghana and the Indepth-Network.

Kimathi Kuenyehia (Snr.)

Mr. Kimathi Kuenyehia is an award-winning Harvard-educated transactional lawyer who is ranked by Legal 500 as one of the top 5 leading lawyers in Ghana. He is the Managing Partner of Kimathi & Partners, corporate attorneys; one of the top three leading law firms in Ghana. Mr. Kuenyehia provides high end legal services to foreign governments, global multinationals and Fortune 500 companies with respect to their most challenging legal issues, most significant business transactions and most critical disputes. He is the first and only African to win the prestigious International Bar Association Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year for his “professional excellence, innovative approach to legal practice, community service and reputation for the advancement of legal ethics”. He is also recognized by IFLR 1000 as “outstanding on all matters”. Described as a lawyer ‘who thinks outside the box’, Mr. Kuenyehia is the co-author of Mining, Electricity and Oil Regulation in Ghana, published by Getting the Deal Through; and he is writing a book on Corporate Law and Practice in Ghana.
Nathaniel Otoo
Organizational Development Advisor
Mr. Nathaniel Otoo is a long-time public policy and health finance professional from Ghana. As a senior fellow at Results for Development, he has served as the first steering group convener of the Joint Learning Network. He has worked on the USAID-funded Health Finance and Government project for the National Health Insurance Authority in Ghana. Mr. Otoo is the immediate past CEO for the Ghana National Health Insurance Authority. He had earlier served as the Deputy CEO responsible for Operations and as the organization’s Director of Administration and General Counsel. He has expertise in risk protection, social security, Universal Health Coverage and public sector reforms. He has played a key role in positioning the NHIA as a promising public sector institution in Ghana and was instrumental in the review of the NHIS enabling law.

Prof. Pierre M. Barker, MD. MBChB
Quality Health Systems Specialist
Pierre M. Barker is the Chief Global Partnerships and Programs Officer at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). He is responsible for IHI’s Strategic Partnerships across the globe and for IHI’s programming in countries around the world outside North America. In addition to advising governments and large organizations on quality strategies, IHI uses the Science of Improvement to promote improved outcomes in health and healthcare. Prof. Barker also leads IHI’s extensive global programming in maternal and child health. In that capacity, he is working with the WHO to help develop a global implementation strategy to improve quality of care for mothers and newborns.
Nneka Mobisson-Etuk, MD, MPH, MBA
Organizational Development Advisor
Nneka Mobisson-Etuk is CEO and co-founder of mDoc, a healthcare information and technology firm, primarily focused on improving the quality of healthcare via technology solutions in Sub-Saharan Africa. She is the immediate past Executive Director of African Operations IHI and was responsible for the operations and implementation of IHI’s existing work in Africa, as well as for the developing IHI portfolio in Africa.

Sodzi Sodzi-Tettey, MBChB, MPH, FISQua

Dr. Sodzi Sodzi-Tettey has been a critical architect of the overarching vision of a sustainable Africa-based Quality Institute working in strategic partnership with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and other partners. He is the Executive Director of Africa Region at Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), responsible for strategic technical and relationship guidance of IHI’s work in Africa while also securing new business opportunities in the Region. Prior to this role, he was IHI’s Senior Technical Director, Africa. As Director fo Ghana’s Project Fives Alive!, he led the delivery of a large scale quality improvement project in over 80% of public sector hospitals and 30% of Ghanaian sub-districts, contributing to a 31% reduction in facility-based under-five child deaths.
